Please note: Glass containers are
recyclable, but the county does not currently have a buyer. For this reason, glass is
not being collected at the present time.
Check for recycling facilities in adjacent counties.
· Choose products with a high recycled content, even if they cost a little more.
· Reduce the volume of packaging you buy, reuse what you can, and recycle the rest.
· Tell the clerk, “I don’t need a bag.”
· Use your own reusable cloth bag at the store.
· Buy quality products and keep them for a lifetime.
· Recycle food and yard scraps by starting a compost pile. Composting can easily reduce by half the volume of material a household sends to a landfill.
Several local charities accept good quality used clothing, shoes, furniture, household goods, home décor, holiday decorations, and working appliances. Here’s a partial list:
Drop off used books at the library.
Donate your used cell phone to a victim of domestic violence by calling SafeSpace.
See if your optometrist will accept your used eyeglasses. The list is endless!

Cover your load!
Local and state laws require garbage being transported in
a vehicle to be covered in a manner to prevent dropping or spilling on
to roadways.
