*Or as an option…

Please note:  Glass containers are recyclable, but the county does not currently have a buyer.  For this reason, glass is not being collected at the present time.  Check for recycling facilities in adjacent counties.

Other things you can do:

·        Choose products with a high recycled content, even if they cost a little more.

·        Reduce the volume of packaging you buy, reuse what you can, and recycle the rest.

·        Tell the clerk, “I don’t need a bag.”

·        Use your own reusable cloth bag at the store.

·        Buy quality products and keep them for a lifetime.

·        Recycle food and yard scraps by starting a compost pile.  Composting can easily reduce by half the volume of material a household sends to a landfill.

Another Good Idea:  Promote Reuse

Several local charities accept good quality used clothing, shoes, furniture, household goods, home décor, holiday decorations, and working appliances.  Here’s a partial list:

  • Goodwill Industries
  • Gentle Touch Ministries
  • Feed My Sheep
  • On God’s Wings

Drop off used books at the library.

Donate your used cell phone to a victim of domestic violence by calling SafeSpace.

See if your optometrist will accept your used eyeglasses.  The list is endless!
